Energy-efficient air quality sensor for harsh conditions-0

Energy efficiency and air quality are closely related to each other, because in order to ensure the best possible air quality, it is necessary to consume a significant amount of energy resources, but at the same time, using appropriate equipment, it is also possible to prevent unnecessary energy consumption. This applies especially to particularly demanding applications, where the fulfillment of other requirements must also be ensured.

E+E Elektronik sensors are characterized by high quality, long-term stability and mechanical strength. Sensors of this class are chosen by Professionals who value sensor reliability, measurement accuracy and longevity in the most difficult working conditions.

The E+E EE8915 sensor measures CO2 concentration in the harshest and most demanding conditions. Active pressure and temperature compensation ensures the most accurate CO2 measurement accuracy regardless of ambient temperature, pressure or weather conditions.

EE8915 built-in Dual-Wavelength NDIR CO2 developed by E+E, which:

  • compensates for the effects of lifetime,
  • is highly resistant to pollution,
  • provides excellent long-term stability.

The multi-point CO2 and temperature adjustment procedure ensures excellent measurement accuracy throughout the temperature operating range. The innovative design allows to combine a short response time and a high protection class. CO2 data is available simultaneously in both voltage and current output signals. The free EE-PCS product configuration software makes it easy to configure and parameterize the EE8915.The EE8915 provides superior performance in any complex process and climate control application.

EE8915 will prove itself perfectly in the following conditions:

  • In rooms where a high degree of cleanliness must be ensured
  • In hospital wards and rooms where people stay permanently
  • In horticulture, where an appropriate CO2 level must be ensured, such as in greenhouses, mushroom farms, etc.
  • In chicken farms
  • Vegetable storage in cold chambers

The main advantages of the EE8915 CO2 sensor:

  • Dual-Wavelength NDIR CO2 sensor element developed by E+E Elektronik
  • Built-in temperature and pressure compensation
  • IP65 protection class
  • Fast response time <100s
  • Excellent long-term stability
  • High resistance to aggressive environment
  • Voltage and current outputs
  • Configuration and parameterization options

Main technical parameters:

  • Measuring range: 0...2000 ppm / 0...5000 ppm / 0...10000 ppm
  • Accuracy: <± (50 ppm +2% of mv) / <± (50 ppm +3% of mv) / <± (100 ppm +5% of mv)
  • Output signal: 0-5 / 10V and 0 / 4-20mA
  • Supply Voltage: 10-35V DC

More on CO2 measurement:

Carbon dioxide gas (CO2) is a component of the Earth's atmosphere. Although carbon dioxide is invisible and odorless, elevated CO2 content in indoor air causes fatigue and impairs people's ability to concentrate. In rooms with high occupancy, such as conference rooms and theaters, the negative effect on people becomes even more obvious. CO2 is an essential parameter for optimizing indoor air quality and process control. High concentrations of CO2 are used, for example, in agriculture, refrigeration or the beverage industry, where leaks can be dangerous to living beings and require special safety measures.

CO2 concentration levels:

~ 40,000 ppm - human exhaled breath (20L CO2/h / 0.7ft3/h)
~ 5000 ppm - CO2 concentration limit in the workplace
> 1000 ppm - fatigue and reduced concentration
~ 1000 ppm - recommended max. CO2 levels in indoor air
~ 400ppm - outdoor air

E+E CO2 sensor

E+E Elektronik CO2 sensors are equipped with a Dual-Wavelength NDIR CO2 element. What does it really mean? One detector is tuned to the 4.2 µm wavelength absorbed by CO2, the other detector is tuned to 3.9 µm unaffected by any gas. The CO2 concentration is calculated for each measurement from the outputs of both detectors. In this way, a high resistance to contamination, wear and tear is achieved, and automatic compensation ensures long-term stability.
